👉🏻When traveling to Kagoshima, it is necessary to pay attention to the ash fall of Sakurajima, which still erupts regularly.
👉🏻When it gets on clothes, it becomes difficult to wash off. The road surface becomes slippery, visibility is poor, and driving is difficult.
👉🏻When traveling, check the weather forecast, as well as the amount of ash fall and the wind direction on the local weather forecasts.
🏞️Precautions For Yakushima Trekking
👉🏻In Kagoshima there is considerable rainfall percentages throughout the year.It rains mostly in the mountains, so bring your own rain gear.
👉🏻When trekking, it is convenient to have a water bottle, a flashlight, a plastic bag and a small towels. A backpack is convenient so that both hands are free.
👉🏻Please bring long trousers, regardless of the season. It is an insect and a grass repellent. Also, don’t forget to wear a hat with a brim to prevent heat strokes.

Kaimondake is an active volcano with an altitude of 924m, located at the southernmost tip of the Satsuma Peninsula. From late December to early February every year, rapeseed flowers bloom on the shores of Lake Ibusuki. The yellow carpet symbolizes the subtropical region of Kagoshima and the arrival of early spring: it contrasts beautifully with the clear blue sky against the backdrop of Kaimondake.

Carefully raised from Kagoshima’s sweet potatoes, Kurobuta (black pork) is one of Japan’s most popular meats: a must-try local delicacy when traveling to Kagoshima. This is Kagoshima’s representative traditional craft. This is a kind of beautiful cut glass that has never been seen before in the world. It is made by covering transparent glass with colored glass and has exquisite cutting patterns engraved on the colored glass. Oshima Tsumugi, one of the world’s three largest textiles, is a high-quality silk fabric from Amami. It is features mud dyeing, where 100% silk fabric is dyed multiple times with mud.
