Umijigoku: One of Beppu’s famous “hell” hot springs, Umijigoku (Sea Hell) is a striking cobalt-blue pool surrounded by vibrant spring greenery and blooming flowers. Visitors can enjoy seasonal gardens, foot baths, and local treats like hot spring-steamed pudding.
Kokonoe Yume Suspension Bridge: This 173-meter-high bridge in Oita offers breathtaking views of waterfalls and lush green valleys, which become even more vibrant in spring. The pleasant weather makes it an ideal time to walk across and take in the scenic beauty.
Suizenji Garden: A beautifully landscaped Japanese garden in Kumamoto, designed to resemble the Tokaido Road with a miniature Mt. Fuji. In spring, cherry blossoms and wisteria bloom around the pond, creating a peaceful and picturesque setting.
Yanagawa River Boat Ride: A relaxing donkobune (flatboat) cruise through Yanagawa’s scenic canals, lined with cherry blossoms in spring. The gentle ride, often accompanied by boatmen singing folk songs, offers a charming way to experience this historic water town.
