Steps on How to Redeem Exchange Order (e-Voucher) in Japan

To exchange JR-WEST e-tickets purchased from H.I.S Travel Malaysia, you’ll need to use a designated ticket vending machine at JR-WEST stations, mainly located at Kansai Airport, Osaka Stations and others.

These machines are typically marked with an icon like the one shown as follows :

Steps & Process

  • Locate a designated machine: Look for ticket vending machines with the exchange ticket icon, often found at JR-WEST stations.
  • Select language: Choose your preferred language on the machine’s display.
  • Choose “Receive reserved ticket(s)”: This option is usually the starting point for exchanging e-tickets.
  • Select “EXCHANGE ORDER (E-TICKET)”: This option is for exchanging vouchers or e-tickets.
  • Scan or enter your e-ticket information: Use the machine’s scanner to read the QR code on your e-ticket or manually enter the Exchange Order Number.
  • Specify the usage start date: Confirm the date you intend to start using the ticket.
  • Confirm passport and personal information: You may need to scan your passport, particularly if it has an IC chip, and confirm that you agree to the terms of use.
  • Receive your ticket: Once the process is complete, the machine will dispense your ticket.
  • Proceed to the gate: Use your newly issued ticket to pass through the automated ticket gates.

Important notes:

  1. Some e-tickets, especially those for Special Discounted Tickets, may require a passport with an IC chip for exchange at the machine.
  2. If your passport cannot be read by the machine, or if you have issues with the exchange process, you may need to visit a ticket office.
  3. The specific stations where you can exchange your e-ticket may vary depending on the type of ticket you have.
  4. Be sure to check the operating hours of the ticket machines, as they may vary by station.
